Airlink will be Apple's Authorized Reseller in Pakistan
Apple and AirLink Communications LTD have made an agreement to
resell Apple's products in Pakistan as an authorized reseller of Apple.
As per stock filing issued on the Pakistan
Stock Exchange (PSX), AirLink
Communications LTD has made an agreement with Apple South Asia LTD to authorize
Apple's products in Pakistan.
AirLink Communications Limited is official
partner of Samsung, iPhone, Alcatel, Huawei, MI, TCL, iTel and Techno holding a
20-25% market share for the distribution of mobile phones and accessories in
Pakistan. Sales of Samsung and Apple phones contribute about 50% of its total
revenue.
The company had arrears of Rs. 4,700 million
as of June 30, 2020, of which around 2,600 million was due over three months.
Therefore, it may be at risk of non-payment.
It operated 14 retail outlets, of which 5
are in Lahore, 5 are in Karachi, 2 are in Bahawalpur and 1 each in Multan and
Hyderabad.
It has a countrywide network of
distribution, sixteen regional hubs connected to more than one thousand
wholesalers and more than four thousand retailers to facilitate the countrywide
sale of mobile phones & accessories.
AirLink Communications has been listed in
the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) through an IPO issue, this development
received an overwhelming response from the shareholders.
Local manufacturing of Samsung mobile phones
in Pakistan is expected to start by December 2021. Samsung's domestic mobile
phone manufacturing could have a material impact on AirLink Communications
LTD's sales revenue. Pakistan has great potential in the smartphone market as
the smartphone user base (as a percentage of Pakistan's total population) is
currently around 18%.
Pakistan’s local mobile market is going to
shift from feature phones to smartphones in the future as cellular mobile
operators are likely to use more advanced technologies as 4G network’s
availability is increasing, there are higher chances of low cost smartphones'
demand will increase in the future.
